The small community of Aledo Texas was first settled by farmers and railroad workers along the Clear Fork Valley of the Trinity River a few miles West of Fort Worth, an area known as Medera. Most of the people moved to the valley when the Texas & Pacific Railroad brought a line through in 1879 connecting Fort Worth and Weatherford in Parker County.
Aledo Texas was first a coal and water refueling station and was the first stop in Parker County for west-bound trains Aledo Texas became known as Parker Station. However, when mail marked “Parker County” found its way out of the mail cart, the U.S. Post Office directed the small community to come up with a distinct name. So the loose knit community came together and named the settlement in 1882, for the home town of a local railroad official from Aledo Illinois.
Today Aledo Tx is a thriving community located between Fort Worth and Weatherford just off of I20. Downtown Aledo Tx is made up of several independent small businesses and banks that service the local community. The small town atmosphere and rural lifestyle plus the outstanding Aledo ISD makes Aledo Tx a very desirable community to raise a family in and to live a comfortable lifestyle.
